Undergraduate courses - CAO - What is CAO?

CAO stands for Central Application Office, it processes applications for undergraduate courses in Irish Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Decisions on admissions to undergraduate courses are made by the HEIs who instruct CAO to make offers to successful candidates.

All information regarding CAO can be found on its official website www.cao.ie. The website has a wealth of information written solely for Parents, Schools and prospective Students.

The full list of undergraduate courses for all of the HEIs in the Republic of Ireland can be accessed through the search facility on the CAO website. If you have a question specific to your own needs it may be worth looking on either the CAO or HEI website you are hoping to apply to first before contacting the admissions team.

The application and decision process is straight forward and can be competed relatively quickly in comparison to other application process in the UK, Europe and Internationally.
