About the University Roadshow

Over recent years, we at ER&M have noticed there is a growing amount of concern among careers teachers,
pupils and parents regarding several areas.

The first main area of concern is the dramatic reduction in the number of places available to Northern Ireland
domiciled students in Queens University Belfast and Ulster University.
This concern is followed by the amount of subjects that have been dropped by local universities.
More recently the high likelihood, of the Northern Ireland Assembly increasing tuition fees.

Here at ER&M we designed the University Roadshow with the idea of providing students in upper and lower sixth,
alongside those who were currently studying BTEC qualifications throughout Northern Ireland with up to date
information about the wide variety of third level opportunities available to them.

The University Roadshow will provide useful information for all students intending to apply to universities in:
England, Scotland, Wales, the Republic of Ireland and Europe.

The University Roadshow begins with a presentation at the start. The presentation introduces the students to
the university roadshow and covers key areas such as:

  • Applying to university.
  • The interview process, if there is one as many courses may make their decision on exam results.
  • The UCAS Application system.
  • The CAO application system for entry into the Republic of Ireland’s universities.
  • Applying to universities that offer degrees taught through the medium of English throughout Europe.
  • Key areas in finance such as fees, loans, grants and scholarships available when studying in England,
Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Europe.
  • Budgeting for University.
  • Accommodation, travel and living expenses.
  • We will be running a number of competitions during the event.

Following the presentation students will then have the opportunity to visit university representatives at their
university stands. Where they will be able to ask questions and gain information about the universities in an
attendance of the university roadshow.

The event lasts a maximumm of 2 hours.

The University Roadshow is currently a free service to schools and colleges in Northern Ireland.
